Those who serve this congregation

Trinity is led by a plurality of elders, who give themselves to prayer, teaching, and the oversight of the congregation, and served by deacons, who care for its practical needs. They are named here so that you know who they are before you ever walk through the door.

Elders

Doug Enick

Elder & Minister of the Word

Originally from Illinois, Doug spent most of his growing-up years in Topeka. He attended Emporia State University with the intention of becoming a high school teacher and basketball coach. The Lord redirected his steps, however, with a call to full-time ministry. While at ESU, Doug met his first wife, Melinda, whom he married soon after college. Together they had six children and two grandchildren before she passed away with cancer in 2021 after more than 34 years of marriage.

The Lord blessed him a second time in 2023 when he married Kerry. Their blended family has eight children and eight grandchildren (so far).

Doug was raised in the Roman Catholic Church but came to an evangelical understanding of the faith while in college. He has a passion for studying the Bible and helping people understand how its teaching applies to all of life. He has served as Trinity’s pastor since 1995.

Jeff Taylor

Elder

Jeff was born in Kinsley, Kansas. When he was eight years old, his family moved to Pratt to start a printing business. He is semi-retired from Taylor Printing, which is now managed by his oldest son Tyson, the third generation of Taylors to operate the business.

Jeff has been married to Sandy for 45 years. They have three children and six grandchildren. The Taylor family has attended Trinity Evangelical Church since 1996, where Jeff has served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and elder. He is active in the Pratt community, having served on the city commission, the Peoples Bank Board of Directors, and now as a Youth Core Ministry Board member.

David Hoppes

Elder

David grew up in Medicine Lodge and graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University and the University of Kansas School of Law. He has been married to Aimee, his high school sweetheart, for more than 50 years. They have two sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He is a retired banker and Certified Financial Planner.

David and Aimee moved back to the Pratt/Medicine Lodge area in 2021 after he retired from Mutual Savings Association in Leavenworth, where he served as President/CEO from 1991–2018.

David attended church for most of his life but, by his own description, was an “unsaved moralist.” He came to know the Lord in a saving way in 2007 when the Lord granted him repentance and faith. He and Aimee began to worship at Trinity in 2021, and he has served as an elder since 2024.

Deacons

Ernie Richardson

Deacon

Ernie grew up in a Christian home and accepted Christ as an early teen. His father was in the military, and the family lived in several different states. Ernie attended Pensacola Christian College and then law school at Regent University.

After moving to Kansas, he practiced law for several years, including serving in elected and appointed positions as county attorney and city attorney. He is currently a vice president and trust officer in a community bank trust department.

Ernie’s wife, Shawna, grew up in the church at Trinity, where her family has served faithfully for decades. She accepted Christ as a young person during a Christian summer camp.

Ernie and Shawna have a blended family of six children and are blessed with an increasing number of grandchildren.

Andy Lee

Deacon

Andy was raised in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. After graduating from Carleton College with a bachelor’s degree in economics, Andy moved to Pratt in the summer of 2011 to work for The Peoples Bank. It was there he met his wife, Vanessa, and they were married in June 2014. They have a son, Henry, and live in Pratt.

Since 2015, Andy has worked in an administrative role for Pratt Energy, an ethanol plant located just north of town.

Andy spent his formative years in Lutheran and Presbyterian churches, attending regularly. As many often do, he lost his way during college, attending church only when visiting family. After moving to Pratt, he was still without a church home. Upon meeting his now-wife, Vanessa, Andy began attending Trinity in 2013. There is no doubt that the Holy Spirit worked through Vanessa to help Andy rededicate himself to the glory of the Lord. Andy has served as a deacon since 2021 and is a worship leader during services.
